Safari Overview

The 5 Days awesome Kenya safari takes you to Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, and the Masai Mara National Reserve. Lake Naivasha tour will take you on an unforgettable boat ride excursion and bird watching. This park lies in the Northwestern part of Kenya, approximately 80 km from the heart of Nairobi.

A boat ride on Lake Naivasha offers you an amazing opportunity to find aquatic species such as hippos and birds, especially the African fish eagles. It is also famous for guided walking safari experiences, often conducted in the Crescent Island Game Sanctuary. At Crescent Island, expect to search for waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, and some predators.

Lake Nakuru National Park offers incredible bird-watching opportunities, especially for pink flamingos. The Maasai Mara National Reserve will be your ideal spot to explore the Big 5 and wildebeests on a guided game drive.

The Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Trip to Explore the Masai Mara

After a hefty breakfast, start your journey from Nairobi to Masai Mara. Expect to take about 6 hours to reach Masai Mara in Narok County. Upon early arrival, check into your lodge for relaxation and lunch. To begin your wilderness adventure, expect to embark on an afternoon game drive. As you drive through the game tracks of Masai Mara, expect to come across diversity of animals including zebras, giraffes, elephants, and predators.

Day 2: Experience the Mara plains –full day

Begin the day with breakfast then set off for a guided game drive. Today, you should ensure that you move with a pack of lunch since the plan is to return only once in the evening. The morning and afternoon game viewing sessions will reward you with encounters of multiple animals and also birds.

Masai Mara is large, and your game drives will expose you to diversity of wildlife.  This reserve is home to a high density of wildlife such as elands, Grant’s gazelles, impalas, buffaloes, leopards, lions, rhinos, spotted hyenas, African wild dogs, Jackals, Coke’s hartebeest, topis, and giraffes, etc.

After the morning session, you will have a short break to let you enjoy lunch in the bush. The last session will resume to conclude today’s exploration in the scenic Maasai Mara Reserve. Note: the Great Migration will best be witnessed around July and October; therefore, timing is essential.

Day 3: Visit Lake Nakuru

Enjoy breakfast, and your driver guide will transfer you to Lake Nakuru, which straddles the Rift Valley area. This stunning protected area supports diversity of wildlife including the black and white rhinos. Over 2 million flamingos also survive in this park and will be spotted during the guided game drive. Once you have reached Lake Nakuru, continue to the lodge for lunch and expect to join others on an afternoon game viewing session.

Day 4: Tour Lake Naivasha

Leave your lodge for an early morning game drive experience. Explore lots of Lake Nakuru’s wildlife and birds, then exit for Lake Naivasha. At Naivasha, you will enjoy a bird-watching tour on an exciting boat ride. This protected area currently holds over 400 species of birds in its diverse ecosystem and includes fish eagles.

Day 5: Walking Tour & Depart for Nairobi

Enjoy a hefty breakfast and proceed with a visit to the Crescent Island Sanctuary. A guided walk in the Crescent Island is intended to let you explore a variety of wildlife, including giraffes, impalas, dik-diks, zebras, waterbucks, and elands, etc. This island sanctuary also supports a range of birds such as cormorants, African fish eagles, pelicans, ospreys, and herons, etc. After the walking experience and exploration of wildlife behaviors, set off for Nairobi.
