Gorilla trekking.

Both Bwindi impenetrable and Mgahinga national parks, of whom are the only gorilla tracking spots in the country, are almost inaccessible especially during the peak seasons, and the gorilla tracking permits are always scarce. That’s why visitors who seek to track gorillas on Uganda Safaris are always advised to secure their gorilla permits enough.

Each tracking group is limited to a group of eight visitors that are allocated to one particular gorilla family. Visitors will dive into the dense rainforest in search of the primates before they can spend one remarkable hour with a habituated gorilla family. Gorilla permits cost USD 800 for international visitors, and the event is worth every dollar.

Chimpanzee trekking

Best time for seamless Ugandan safaris

Uganda has got so much to put on table that it can be visited at any time of the year, but the dry seasons are the best time overall especially from June to September during the long dry period. This is the most rewarding period to visit the Pearl of Africa especially for smooth gorilla and chimpanzee trekking experience. The tracking trails are highly visible as a result of cleared short vegetation, and the wildlife is also easy to spot given that it concentrates near the only available water sources.

Another recommended time to visit that comes with slightly lower visitors, and fresh skies is the short dry season between December to February. The Uganda wet season often arrives in early March to late May, along with light showers between October to November and brings the greenest landscapes, outstanding birding activities, and favorable rates.

However, trails across many safari destinations in the country are not at their best like during the drier period. They tend to trap water as a result of constant downpours, making most of the scenic routes hard to reach, hence a stressful game drive experience.
