You only track a habituated troop of chimpanzees, moreover in its natural home. Also, on this trip, enjoy a nature walk in the breathtaking Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Start this short trip in Entebbe and end it in Kampala/Entebbe.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Kibale National Park
Arrive at the Entebbe International Airport. We have a dedicated guide there ready to meet you. After a brief interaction, the guide starts the car to transfer you to Kibale National Park. The latter is 276 kilometers from Kampala, just near Entebbe. Lunch is offered when you stop at a nice restaurant/hotel. Proceed with the scenic journey towards the western region of Uganda. Among the numerous scenic views are some of the most gorgeous tea estates just before you arrive at the forest.
Then, there are the lovely vistas of the Rwenzori ranges, with its snowcapped peaks. Other scenes include countryside gardens, rivers and others. These views can be got as you drive to your pre-booked lodge at Kibale Forest. Time for check in comes and then you relax inside your room. Lodge staff ensure that dinner is ready in the evening, for you to eat. The night is better spent in your bed, as you sleep until the next day.
Day 2: Kibale Chimp tracking and Nature Walk in Bigodi
When you open your eyes in the morning, start the second day of the 3 days Uganda chimpanzee safari with breakfast. As your enthusiasm to meet the chimps heightens, head to the visitor’s information center of Kibale. Register and then meet the park guides/rangers. Briefly attend a session they often organize for your education. They talk about the various steps for a successful chimpanzee trek in the forest. When you start to track the habituated chimpanzee troop, make sure you follow the ranger guide.
Meet the chimpanzees, already in the moods for breakfast, and watch them while quiet. This is for 1 hour according to the chimp tracking rules. Then return to the lodge for lunch. Enter Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary in the afternoon for a nature walk. A lot of wildlife species can be seen in this swamp habitat. You might have seen some of the species during the earlier chimp trek. They include vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons and great blue turacos etc. Eat your evening meal back at the lodge. Overnight stay is here as well.
Day 3: Depart Kibale to Kampala. End of Safari
Breakfast is available for you at leisure. Depart the Kibale Forest after you check out of the lodge. Lunch is offered enroute. What else is done when you pause is the equator crossing experience in Kayabwe. Take photos as you stand on the equator monument, then watch experiments to prove you are indeed at the equator. Reach Kampala to complete your journey. The 3 days Uganda chimpanzee safari ends after you are dropped off at your accommodation or Entebbe International Airport.
